Free-lance journalist, photographer and author. Base camp : Grenoble, in the French Alps. Field of action : the planet at large. Key words : image, text, music, memory. The term "Renifleur du temps” (possible translation : open-minded observer of the time passing) came to mind to express my perpetual attentiveness to the murmurs of the universe. Studied in Art school (photography master), University (human ecology) and Conservatory (electro-acoustic music) in Metz, France, Europe.
From the beginning of the eighties until now, worked as a journalist at Photo Reporter magazine, editor at Photo Magazine and Montagnes Magazine, editor-in-chief and co-founder of News Montagne, webmaster for Internet websites, managing editor for magazines and editor-in-chief of L’Alpe published four times a year by Éditions Glénat with the Musée dauphinois.
Also free-lance photographer and journalist for the written and audiovisual press : Le Monde, Vogue, Grands Reportages,Sciences & Nature, L’Expansion, L’Équipe Magazine, Chasseur d’Images, SVM and, abroad, magazines like Adventure (Netherlands), Alp, Atlante, Avventura (Italy), the Italian edition of L’Alpe or Basler Zeitung (Germany). Particular fields : jazz, music, travel, photography and computer sciences.
Author or co-author of a dozen books.
Secret garden : amateur musician (acoustic bass with the Alzy Trio).
Concerning jazz music, I have the great pleasure and honour to work since 1988 for the oldest jazz magazine in the world, created in 1935 in Paris by Charles Delaunay. Jazz Hot has published my photographs of musicians, my "breakfast interviews” (Terence Blanchard, Betty Carter, Billy Childs, Chick Corea, Slide Hampton, Michele Hendricks, Branford Marsalis, Marilyn Mazur, Horace Silver, Steve Swallow, Toots Thielemans and more), my special reports (jazz in the Soviet Union in 1991), my articles (Miles Davis), my reviews on festivals as well as on recordings.
